Measuring over 400 meters (1,300 ft) across at its widest point, the island is a feature at the heart of Magaluf Bay. It is 36 m (118 ft) above sea level. The island is uninhabited, but visited during the summer season by many holidaymakers, either swimming or on personal water craft from Magaluf Beach.

Since July 2014 the Island has been known worldwide as "Big Swiller Island" after a group of British tourists made it there and back confirming their status as the biggest swillers Magaluf had ever encountered.

In 2015, the Island was set on fire by a group of Scottish teenagers. Statues of the big swillers made after the historic event the year before were unfortunately destroyed. But the event did happen.
