Ishan Institute of Law (IIL) is a law school located in Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, India. The law school offers full time 3 year LL.B program to students wishing to accomplish a career in the field of law. The law school was established in the year 2014 under the auspices of Ishan Educational Research Society. The founder trustee of the law school is the eminent educationist and philanthropist Dr.D.K.Garg. The institute is approved by the Bar Council of India and affiliated to Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

History

Ishan Institute of Law was established in the year 2014 with an objective to produce skilful professional advocates. The institute is a unit of Ishan Group of Institutions. The founder of the law school is the renowned educationist, advocate and philanthropist Dr.D.K.Garg.

Infrastructure

The campus of Ishan Group of Institutions is spread across 44,000 sq.mts of built area. The foundation stone of the campus was laid by the then Speaker of Lok Sabha, Late Shri P.A. Sangma in the year 1994. It is located on the main road to the left of Pari Chowk at the climax of Greater Noida Expressway. The building also houses the moot court room where moot court sessions for the LL.B students are held. The campus has a state of the art moot court room for law students for presenting and arguing mock legal cases in a highly professional setup that is characterized by the presence of the bench, court clerk, the bar, tables for plaintiff, the defendant, the defence counsel, the prosecution and his counsel, the jury box, the well and the gallery meant for curious spectators. The amphitheatre stages co-curricular activities. The Green Park houses a basketball court with concrete turf, a volleyball court and a playground for cricket with a concrete gallery for spectators. The Aryabhatta library, the reading room, IT lab, Conference Room and Seminar Hall are also located on the campus. Students avail of the computing facilities in the IT lab. The Aryabhatta library houses text books and reference books of law, journals, magazines and periodicals of law. The Conference Room has a seating capacity of 60 people and is equipped for presentations and meetings. The Seminar Hall is built on an area of 6,000sq.mt and can host meetings, conventions and seminars with 200 participants. It is geared with a well maintained acoustics department to facilitate congregations of international standards. Workshops, seminars and conventions of the school of law are conducted in the Seminar Hall.

Hangouts-Green Park

The Green Park houses a well curated football ground, a basket ball with concrete turf and a gallery that runs parallel to the ground. The Green Park is abuzz with business during off periods, breaks and evening hours. The Green Park has the reputation for being the hotbed of intellectual discussions, role plays, theatrical performances and debates among the student community. It also hosts full- fledged football matches, under lights-badminton and volleyball in the winter season.

Academics

The three year LL.B program affiliated to Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut follows an annual examination scheme. Regular lecture sessions are run for LL.B students for the coverage of the academic curriculum. The law school has an academically accomplished faculty team consisting of doctoral scholars, advocates with practice experience, retired judges and magistrates. The three year full time law program offers course content and evaluation system of yearly examinations as stipulated by the affiliating university, i.e. CCS University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Admission to the law school is based on merit subject to the fulfilment of eligibility conditions stated by the university. The academic pedagogy and teaching methodology of the institute make it one of the top law colleges in Greater Noida, Delhi NCR. The teaching methodology adopted by Ishan Institute of Law is discipline specific and uses a combination of lectures, case studies, presentations and practical assignments that are aimed at developing professionalism in the aspiring advocates. Classroom presentations are assigned every week and assessed objectively by a faculty panel. Follow up classes for these presentations are held wherein the faculty provides feedback for improvement of the LL.B students. The moot court room sessions are conducted frequently every month. Law students are assigned case file preparation and drafting of case documents, presentation and arguments for the case either for the prosecution or the defence counsel and maintaining court protocol while fighting a case. Guest lectures by renowned practicing and retired advocates and judges are arranged in order to give maximum exposure to practical technical and analytical aspects of law. Workshops on law are organized by the law school to offer inputs on specific skills that are required in the practice of law. As a part of the academic curriculum, Ishan Institute of Law organizes visits to the local police station, district court, the Delhi High Court, the Supreme Court of India, offices of esteemed law firms, the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Parliament House of India. Legal surveys are conducted wherein LL.B students of the institute interact with various legal aid committees to provide legal aid, information and counselling to economically weak sections of the society to avail of legal rights and legal counsel available to all citizens of India.

Community and Clubs

Ishan Institute of Law, is the official Facebook community of the law school operated by the college. Placement Cell, run by the college in conjunction with the alumni and faculty of the college for placements.

Activities & Events

Kshitiz It is the annual fest of the college that brings together students of all courses of different stand alone institutes under the umbrella of Ishan Group of Institutions like LL.B. MBA, PGDM, B.Com, B.Arch, B.Ed, M.Ed and BTC. The law school students actively participate in and conduct events like debate, quiz, just a minute sessions and role plays. Foundation Day The Foundation Day marks the establishment of the college and is celebrated amidst a display of cultural programs in the auditorium in the august presence of luminaries from different walks of life and esteemed alumni who are awarded for being great ambassadors of the college in the practice of law. Workshops Workshops are organized as a part of the academic curriculum of the LL.B program with an aim to identify potential strengths and weed out weaknesses. These are short term events spanning across 1–2 days to fulfil the objectives of self-improvement in case preparation, presentation and arguments in court room situations. Debates Debates on tracks and themes of philosophical foundations of law, Indian Penal Code, civil law, law of torts and consumer protection law are regularly held at the campus premises of the law school. The debates are moderated by eminent panellists who are invited to present their observations and the possible play out of court verdicts on the basis of arguments on motives, evidences and provisions in law. Moot Court Room Sessions The law school offers great campus facilities for the conduct of moot court room sessions. Students enrolled in the LL.B program at the law school frequently participate in moot court room sessions that are exact replicas of real court room situations.
