History

When founder Chris Strode couldn’t find an invoicing application that suited his needs, he began coding his own solution. As a small business owner Strode aimed to solve the challenges that he knew other business owners faced, developing a product that met the need for immediacy and simplicity in an accounting software. Since its inception in Erina, Australia the company reports to serve over 200,000 customers, has been recognized internationally as a top business app and has opened offices in Jakarta and Cebu, as well as its two headquarters in Sydney and Palo Alto.

In 2009 the app went live on the iTunes app store, and by 2011 it was ranked among the top 10 business apps. By September 2013 Forbes reported that Invoice2go received a total of $35 million in funding from Accel Partners and Ribbit Capital, a Palo Alto-based venture capitalist firm. A report by The New York Times named Invoice2go as one of the handful of Australian and New Zealand companies that are exemplary of the geographical investment trend.

Bizjournals also reported that included in the expansion plan was the appointment of Greg Waldorf, former CEO of eHarmony and then CEO-in-residence of Accel. The app has since ranked number one among highest grossing business apps in 59 countries in the iOS app store and in 9 countries in the Android Market.

Product

The key features of Invoice2go include creation and sending of invoices, estimates, and purchase orders from a mobile device, customizable invoice templates, and reporting and analytics. Additionally the app offers a secondary suite of features called Apps2go for receipt / expense tracking, creation of statements, gathering customer signatures electronically, and scanning product details onto invoices from barcodes.

Invoice2go instantly syncs these documents across all devices via the cloud, supporting a number of operating system including OS X, iOS, Chrome OS, Android, Microsoft Windows, and webOS.

In April 2015 Apple, Inc. featured Invoice2go in the launch of Apple Watch. The Apple Watch version of the app has been recognized internationally as a top business app and uses an iPhone GPS to track work hours based on time spent on a job site.

Reviews

Invoice2go Reviews within each respective Apple App Store and Google Play Store have been recently under 4 stars, as users have issues regarding syncing, exporting data, as well as pricing differences on the website and within the app. Also; users noted that the paywall is not clearly stated within the app, giving it the appearance of a "free app."
