Internet Trends (India) Private Limited is a privately held company developing products targeted at Network Security and Data Security.

Contents

Established in 1999, Internet Trends was founded in Mahim, Mumbai to provide high-end off-shoring services for technology companies and develop home-grown networking products. The headquarters moved to Andheri in suburban Mumbai in late 2000 to accommodate its growing strength.

Out-sourced product development has been the bread-n-butter for the company, which has helped finance several product development projects, which so far have not met any level of market success. After opting out of off-shore services in 2005, and a subsequent management re-shuffle, the company's financial health has seen a steady decline.

Organizational Affiliations

All software developed at Internet Trends is licensed and sold by sister organisations, headquartered in the US. These currently include: Red Cannon Inc. and RealBlocker Inc., both founded and financed by the founders of Internet Trends and headquartered in Fremont, California.

Services

Internet Trends has provided services for out-sourced product development and maintenance. One of the significant products in this area was a software product for testing MPLS and GMPLS routing, out-sourced from Navtel Communications, Canada. The relationship lasted several years before the latter suspended development on the product in 2005.

Products

The company has ventured into several network-based product lines over the years including an IDS, a network security manager and an application firewall. It has also tried venturing out into information security by way of products like an anti-spyware and secure data token. A limited number of these products have made it to market and generated limited revenues for the company, however not resulting in a return on investment.

Work Culture

Employees enjoy a flat hierarchy, quality work and an informal work atmosphere, however, hindered by lack of transparency. The company is known to rely on innovation to achieve its goals, but has often been criticised for execution and lack of quality awareness. As such, it classifies as a CMM level 0 company.
