International School of the Peninsula (ISTP, French: École internationale de la Péninsule, Traditional Chinese: 半島國際學校, Simplified Chinese: 半岛国际学校, Pinyin: Bàndǎo Guójì Xuéxiào) is an independent co-ed nursery–8th grade day school located in Palo Alto, California.

Contents

International School of the Peninsula offers two bilingual immersion programs: Mandarin Chinese-English and French-English.

History

The International School of the Peninsula (ISTP) was established in 1979 as the Peninsula French-American School (PFAS), founded by Charlotte de Géry. In 1996, the school added the Mandarin Chinese-English program as well as a middle school and changed its name to become the International School of the Peninsula.

In September 2000, ISTP moved the elementary and middle school programs into the newly built Cohn Campus.

ISTP celebrated its 35th anniversary during the 2014–2015 school year and marked the 15th anniversary of the Mandarin Chinese-English immersion program in 2011.

Accomplishments

ISTP has had over a decade of appearances in the annual San Francisco Chinese New Year Festival and Parade. The school has received several awards in the Amateur Self-Built Float Category in previous years, winning either 1st or 2nd place.

In 2016, ISTP won Palo Alto's 4th annual Mayor's Green Business Leader Award.
