History
The International School of Hospitality was founded in 2005 by a group of University of Nevada, Las Vegas professors and hospitality professionals who believed there was a need for career-focused, practical training in the form of flexible certificate and diploma programs, developed and taught by experts in the field. Since opening, TISOH has trained more than 1,000 students.
In 2015, a renovation and expansion doubled the size of its East Sunset Road facility.
Academics
TISOH espouses having students taught by those employed in their respective fields, thus courses are taught by credentialed professionals who work in hospitality.
Students can earn certificates for single courses or a diploma or executive diploma for completing four courses. Certificate courses are completed in five to 12 weeks, while diplomas require about eight months of study. Executive diplomas focus on one area of study, while a diploma includes training in several operations. Both diplomas include observation in the field and work experience.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reported in 2015 that classes average eight students per instructor. TISOH's website states that classes are kept small in order to "allow for much more personal learning interactions," thereby "fostering an environment where students can be an active part of the experience."
TISOH is divided into four departments: The Department of Conferences and Events, the Department of Catering, the Department of Hotel Management and the Department of Wedding Coordination. All four departments collaborate with an academic curriculum manager who reviews, revises and updates curriculum content, ensuring that the curriculum is as up-to-date as possible.

Student services
Every semester, TISOH has over 1,000 hours of externship opportunities available for students, actively placing students into externships, which are required by many of their programs. Online students may elect to visit Las Vegas to experience an externship (which normally can be completed with a 2-4 day visit) or request the school to provide an introduction for them to source an externship in their home city.
Executive/Diploma students receive access to a comprehensive suite of career services which are available from the beginning of their enrollment, in order to prepare them for a new career (or career progression). TISOH also has an active alumni association.
Accreditation and licensure
TISOH has earned accreditation from the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training and is an Academic Partner of the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. The school is licensed by the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education.
Campus
TISOH operates a 9,000 sq. ft. campus in southeast Las Vegas and now has "five classrooms, a lecture hall, a special events design lab, a student resource center, a computer lab, a student lounge and a hotel operations lab with a built-in front desk for students to practice guest interactions." It also has a photo/video studio, gallery, conference rooms, a courtyard, and a welcome center.
