The International Emmy Award for best telenovela is a category of the International Emmy Awards, held since 2008 and which awards telenovelas outside the United States.

The growing worldwide popularity of telenovelas is reflected in a decision by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to establish a separate category for the genre. Before, Telenovelas were included in the category of Best Dramatic Series.
History
The best telenovela award was established in the 2008 by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Until 2007, the International Emmy awarded only the categories of best arts programming, actor, actress, comedy, documentary, drama series, non-scripted entertainment, TV movie/Mini series, children's program, current affairs program and news.
Brazil's Rede Globo is the TV network with the largest number of nominations, 10 in total, winning in 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In addition to a co-production in 2011 with the Portuguese network SIC, for Laços de Sangue.
Considered the most prominent event in the international television industry, the International Emmy Awards recognizes excellence in television produced outside of the United States, as well as US Primetime programs produced in languages other than English.
