The International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV) was founded in 2008 and is devoted to the advancement of the arts and sciences of web television production. In 2009, the IAWTV held the first Streamy Awards ceremony, an annual event created to recognize excellence in web television production. The Streamys is now a separate entity from the IAWTV. The members of the academy selected the nominees and winners for the Streamys, and now do so for their own IAWTV Awards show which began in 2011.

Contents

In the past, IAWTV membership was by invitation only, but is now open to a range of digital professionals. Members represent a full cross-section of roles and specialties in web television creation, production and distribution.

In 2017, the IAWTV became a division of The Caucus, an organization that began in the 1970s to elevate television programming for Producers, Writers and Directors. Members of The Caucus include an elite group of television’s best and brightest, including JJ Abrams, Vin Di Bona, Norman Lear, Tom Hanks, Dick Wolf, Gale Anne Hurd, and many more. Their mission to make quality television now extends to new media via the IAWTV and includes all layers of cast and crew for this division.

Governance

The IAWTV is a membership-based organization.

Members of the current Board:

  • Tina Cesa Ward, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Member of The Caucus

The IAWTV has hosted an annual award presentation since 2012, titled the "IAWTV Awards." The 2012 presentation included several categories including Best Comedy Series and Best Drama series and continues to evolve and expand.
