It was founded in 1940 by Carlos Errázuriz Mena, member of the Chilean Christian Board. It is named after the former Presidents of Chile Federico Errázuriz Zañartu, and Federico Errázuriz Echaurren.
Federico Errázuriz Regional Institute was ranked as the sixteenth "best school in O'Higgins Region" by Federico Santa María Technical University, in 2009. It is only surpassed in Santa Cruz by Colegio Santa Cruz de Unco, which is ranked sixth.
History
The vision of Don Carlos Errázuriz Mena, united wills and raised the support of the Foundation Christian Center to found in Colchagua a quality school that would be an opportunity for colchagüinas families. This work comes to fruition in 1940 when the Federico Errázuriz Regional Institute was founded. His name is a recognition of the two members of the Errázuriz family who served as President of the Republic.
The Centro Cristiano Foundation is a legal entity whose purpose is to promote and promote Catholic Youth Education. In the genesis of the Institute, the Foundation gives the Pallottine Schoenstatt Fathers the responsibility of building and administering this house of studies. Its first Rector is Father Joseph Kuhl, choosing a motto of an inspiring force and orientation: "God and Fatherland".
In 1948 Father Jose Kentenich visited the school and placed the first stone of the Schoenstatt Shrine in Santa Cruz, his homily, in this ceremony, is a true legacy inspiring the School's Educational Project.
The Regional Institute Federico Errázuriz has its roots in the spirit of the Founding Fathers who came from the city of Limburg in Germany, printed their pedagogical and excellence imprint that is maintained and will remain in the work of this prestigious Institution. The adaptations of the Dioceses in their geographical territory and the departure of the Pallottine Fathers of this area in 1968, mean that for several years the Institute has the guiding influence and direction of a Priest of the Diocese of Talca, Father Octavio Godoy Reyes Native of the commune of Lolol that imposes a seal of iron discipline. Finally in the decade of 1980, a new structuring of the geographical space of the Dioceses, causes that Santa Cruz happens to belong ecclesiastically of the Diocese of Rancagua and therefore with the death of the Rector Father Octavio Godoy Kings, assumes the Rectory Father Luis Daza Osorio that impresses in the Institute a seal of quality and of mystique in the work of progress of this house of studies.
From 2006 to 2016, the Rector Major, Permanent Deacon Oscar Patricio Reyes González assumes that he has sought to maintain the prestige and excellence obtained by the Institute. In the Period of 2017 Assumes as Rector the Professor of history and master in education Cristian Molina Mera
