Institute of Technology, Guru Ghasidas University (a Central University), also known as ITGGU or ITGGV, is a public engineering institute located in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, India. It was established in 1997 as part of Guru Ghasidas University. It has eight departments. Originally a state government college, it started admitting students on a national level on the basis of ranks obtained AIEEE now JEE-main. In 2009 the university has been upgrade to be a central university. The college provides four-year undergraduate and two-year postgraduate degrees in engineering.

Academics

The academic year is organised around the semester. The examination procedure consists of two class test, one mid-semester and an end-semester. IT-GGU follows a 10-point CGPA scale. According to decision of Academic council of university, student are able to see the checked answer sheets of main exam.

Undergraduate programs

IT-GGV offers a Bachelor of Technology in seven areas that include:

  1. Civil Engineering
  2. Chemical Engineering
  3. Computer Science and Engineering
  4. Electronics and Communication Engineering
  5. Industrial Production and Engineering
  6. Information Technology
  7. Mechanical Engineering

It is based on a four-year programme with eight semesters. The first year of the BTech curriculum has common courses from various departments. At the end of the first year, an option to change departments is given to students on the basis of their performance in the first two semesters. The admission to these programs is done through national level JEE-Main(AIEEE) conducted by CBSE, New Delhi.

Postgraduate programs

The M.Tech program is offered in following two areas:

  1. Chemical Engineering
  2. Mechanical Engineering

The admission to these programs are carried out mainly based on Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (Gate) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science.

Ph.D programs

The institute offers a Ph.D degree in the following streams of engineering :

  • Computer Science & Engineering
  • Electronics & Communications Engineering
  • Industrial Production Engineering.
  • Campus and facilities

    The institute is located at Koni, a village five kilometres from Bilaspur. It functions as a university department within the university premises. It operates out of two buildings, the old-IT building and the new-IT building. Since the college is situated within the university premises, it shares facilities with other departments like Wi-Fi, Central library, Computer Centre, and auditorium.

    Hostel facilities are provided for both boys and girls. University buses ply between Bilaspur and Koni for students living outside the university premises.

    Societies and clubs

    Societies and clubs organize quiz competitions, debate competitions, extempore competitions, programming events, IQ tests and other events. The societies are as follows:

  • Utopians of Skills (CSE branch) - Progitggu and Utopians
  • ChESS (Chemical Branch) - ChESS
  • Mechanical/IP Club
  • ITIOC (IT branch)
  • Events and co-curricular activities

    "Kalrav" is the event organised by the sophomores every year to welcome the freshers to the college. The college has an English monthly,"Odyssey", which gives a report of all the happenings, and promotes the students by giving them a platform to write and express.

    Students of the college are members of "Udaan", the University Magazine - UDAAN The Students Magazine.

    Students participate in athletics and other sports events organised by the university and represent the university in inter-university competitions.

    The students perform in "Tarang", which are musical events organised by students.

    Equilibrio

    Equilibrio is the annual techno-management festival of IT-GGV. Equilibrio was started in 2013.

    The first Equilibrio-2013 organised 14 different events like Truss Bridge construction, Robot workshop, Coding X-master, Business entrepreneur, Line follower Robot etc.

    Training and Placement cell

    IT-GGV, Bilaspur has a Training and Placement cell to train 3rd and 4th year students.
