History

Insight Communications Limited was incorporated in 1979 and commenced operations in 1980 as an integrated marketing communications outfit. The company is co-founded by Biodun Shobanjo who currently serves as the Chairman of Troyka, with Jimi Awosika as the Managing Director / CEO. Biodun Shobanjo was the Chief Executive Officer of Insight for 25 years before he stood down at the end of December 2004.

In 2015, the director of strategy and planning, Feyi Olubodun was promoted to the role of General Manager and COO of the company, Feyi holds a MBA from the prestigious Duke University. Chima Okenimpke is Executive Creative Director of Insight and the most awarded Creative Director in Nigeria.

Awards

Both Biodun Shobanjo and Jimi Awosika are the recipients of several local and international awards. In 2013, the Sun newspapers honoured the Chairman of Troyka, Biodun Shobanjo with the ‘Advertising Man of All Times’, their highest award so far, in recognition of his contribution to advertising profession in Nigeria. In 2013, the prestigious World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB) USA honoured the agency with the BIZZ 2013 Award for Excellence. In 2012, Insight came tops at the annual advertising awards in Nigeria carting away 25 medals in total Insight emerged at the biggest winner also at the 2013 LAIF awards carting away the bulk of the awards Insight was the most awarded agency at the 2014 edition of the Lagos advertising and ideas festival(LAIF). LAIF is the "Cannes" of Nigeria. In 2015, Jimi Awosika, one of the legends of advertising on the continent bagged the award of "Outstanding Advertising Personality of the Decade" Also in 2015, Biodun Shobanjo bagged the Manager of the Year award at the International Achievements Forum held by the Europe Business Assembly (EBA) at the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, London, United Kingdom. The European prestigious award started in 2006, recognises and promotes excellence, best practice and innovation. Designed to celebrate exceptional results across a variety of categories, the awards have been judged by a prestigious panel of experts, including some of Europe’s key political figures, media owners and top academics like former Prime Minister of Belgium, Yves Leterme; Chief Executive Officer of Atradius N.V; Isidoro Unda and Chief Executive Officer at Firmenich, Gilbert Ghostine. Today, Insight Communications Nigeria Limited is easily the most awarded advertising agency in Nigeria and has held that position consistently for the last couple of years.

Best Place to Work in Nigeria

Insight has been consistently voted as one of the best places to work in Nigeria. In 2013, it was voted as one of the top 100 places to work in Nigeria by Nigeria's number one Job portal. Insight was the only advertising agency that featured on the list. Again in 2015, another survey by Jobberman in partnership with Ventures Africa which involved 335 companies with over 6,000 respondents voted Insight as the 3rd best place to work in Nigeria by millennials, a huge feat considering the caliber of companies on the same list. Again no advertising agency in Nigeria made it to the list
