Indonesian Aerospace N-245 is an Indonesian turboprop airliner being developed by Indonesian Aerospace. A development of CASA/IPTN CN-235, the N-245 is being designed with a greater passenger capacity and lower operating costs than the CN-235. The N-245 has longer body, newer engine type, T-tail and no ramp door.

Design and Development

Since the reign of President Joko Widodo, he ordered the revival of several Indonesian aircraft, including the old N250 which captured the world attention back in 1997. The decision was made in order to boost the Indonesian economy. After the successful revival of N219 aircraft, the Indonesian aerospace decided to improve the aircraft and planned to make a better and larger aircraft. IA decided to choose N245 as N219's successor, a 50-seated turboprop airliner. The airliner was named N-245 due to "the spirit of 45", which was the year of Indonesia's independence, which was on 1945. The program to produce N245 was started in 2016. The Indonesian Aerospace also stated its intention to produce N270, the 70-seated version of N245 and N219.

The design phase will start in 2017 and the first N245 would have been done by 2020. The Indonesian Government stated that they will provide a total funds of $44 million for the development of the aircraft.

On 8 December 2016, Indonesian Ministry of Industry opined that the N245 and the R80 (another turboprop aircraft that will be built by the Indonesian Aerospace) should be included on the Strategic National Projects. On 10 February 2017, N245 and R80 were included on the projects. Due to this decision, the government will boost the development of both aircraft and stated that both aircraft could make its first flight in 2019.
