History

The IIAPS was established a constituent college by GAU under the provisions of GAU Act 1965.In 1972 Govt of Gujarat opened an Ayurvedic Pharmacy college at Rajpipla, Gujarat, and affiliated it to GAU. After about five years the college was shut down. Then after in 1998 GAU authorities thought of reviving this course and established IAPS as a self finance Institute under its own control and supervision. This was envisioned by an expert committee consisting of expetrs from Ayurved, academic and industry fields so as to strengthen the base of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences and prepare experts as per requirements of Academics and Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Industry.

This had become necessary in view of the fact that Ayurvedic Physicians had no time and sufficient knowledge of preparing and dispensing drugs by themselves and commercial pharmaceutical establishments started preparing the drugs and formulation without qualified expertise in the field.1

Offering

IIAPS offers a four-year degree course in Ayurvedic pharmaceutical Sciences leading to the degree of B.Pharm (Ayu) of Gujarat Ayurved University. It also offers a two-year diploma course in Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences leading to D.Pharm (Ayu).1
