Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA), is a national representative organization of manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment in India. As a representative of the electrical industry, IEEMA maintains dialogue with the government of India, its departments, electric utilities, users, standardization bodies, educational institutions, research, development and testing agencies.

History

Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association is the apex association of manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment in India. Founded in 1948, IEEMA has a pan India presence with its corporate office at New Delhi, registered office at Mumbai and regional offices at Kolkata and Bangalore.

Membership

IEEMA today represents about 800 member-organizations from public, joint and private sectors, whose combined annual turnover is in excess of US dollars 30 billion, with its members contributing to more than 95% of the 2,30,626 MW of power generating capacity installed in India.

Activities and services

IEEMA's major activities are disseminating information about government policy changes and statistics, representing views of the industry to the government, evolving price variation clauses covering a wide range of products and circulating price indices for the same, and formulating industry standards.

IEEMA conducts technical activities where members meet and discuss issues concerning the industry and its growth opportunities.

IEEMA organizes Elecrama exhibitions dedicated to the electrical T&D sector, international seminars, workshops and training programs, and publishes a monthly IEEMA Journal..

As the representative organization of the electrical and industrial electronics industry in India, IEEMA is a part of councils and committees constituted by the government of India.

Initiatives with the government

IEEMA interacts with the Ministry of Power for implementation of the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) and the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY), supports the Bureau of Energy Efficiency in standards and labeling programme for energy efficient products, interacts with standards and testing institutions, organizes DRUM training programmes with the Ministry of Power and quality awareness programmes with the Quality Council of India.

International co-operation

For developing business co-operation opportunities, IEEMA networks with overseas counterpart associations through exchange of information, assistance to membership and other joint programs. IEEMA has signed memoranda of understanding with associations in other countries. IEEMA is one of the founder members of FAEMA, The Federation of Asian Electrical Manufactures’ Associations.

Export promotion

IEEMA organizes delegation visits and participations in exhibitions abroad for promotion of export of its members.

Information circulars

Through its circulars, it circulates information about procedural and policy changes made by the Government in taxation, import-export policy, industrial regulations as well as tender information, business opportunities, production and import-export statistics, standards and other matters of interest to the industry.

IEEMA Journal is a publication of IEEMA which covers technical and techno-commercial articles, industry information, statistics, business opportunities, IEEMA activities etc. IEEMA Journal is the leading electrical & electronics monthly published by IEEMA since June 1981, covering articles of techno-commercial importance, national and international news related to power sector. It is the only trade journal certified by Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC), with circulation of 10,000 copies every month.

ELECRAMA Exhibitions

ELECRAMA is a biennial exhibition for power, electrical, and industrial electronics and allied products organized by IEEMA. It is one of the largest international exhibition of electrical and industrial electronics industry in the world. The 12th edition of ELECRAMA, the World’s largest Transmission and Distribution Exhibition was a power packed event, which was held at BIEC, Bengaluru from 13–17 February 2016. The event witnessed the presence of who’s who in the power industry both domestic and international. The five days international flagship event of IEEMA was inaugurated by Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of State (IC) for Power Coal, New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, in the presence of the Energy Minister of State of Karnataka, Mr D K Shivakumar, Power Secretary, Mr P K Pujari, Coal Secretary, Mr Anil Swarup, State Power Secretaries, CMDs of Power Utilities, Senior officials of Ministry of Power, Mr Babu Babel, President, IEEMA, ELECRAMA 2016, Organising Committee Chairman, Mr. Aaditya R Dhoot, senior bureaucrats and industry leaders. The show provided the stakeholders in the power industry a worldview on technology, best practices, new systems and forecasting the trends in the future of electricity, both from the technology and a socio-economic point of view. The event is the largest and most prestigious event in its space in the world. Spread over a gross area of 84,000 m2, the exhibition hosted visitors from over 120 countries and overall more than 120,000 footfall. There were over 1000 exhibitors showcasing diverse products, technologies and solutions.

Apart from technical product-specific international seminars, IEEMA organizes national conferences and workshops.

SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) Focus Event

IEEMA is working on capacity building and up-gradation of SMEs. To encourage the SMEs to implement modern quality tools and techniques, an ‘IEEMA SME Quality Award’ has been instituted.

IEEMA organizes training programs catering to the needs of the Indian industry.
