Impossibility Challenger is an event in which Amateurs and professionals meet, and try yourself to excel, Records and World Record set up. Impossibility Challenger can be described as World Record Games or a World Record Festival. It serves as a platform for anyone who wants to push the limits of human possibility and wants to try to establish a World Record or personal record in a non-Olympic discipline. Impossibility Challenger means: the one who challenges impossibility or the challenging of the impossible.

Impossibility Challenger seeks to inspire people from all walks of life, nations and age categories to experience the joy and excitement of self-transcendence and newness in a unique way. The organizers and helpers all work as volunteers. Impossibility Challenger is a non-profit event that is sponsored by the Sri Chinmoy Centers.

History

Impossibility Challenger was first organized in Zürich, Switzerland in 1982. Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the Impossibility Challenger, visited the event twice in the following years. From 2002 on the Impossibility Challenger took also place in Germany, New Zealand, Hungary and Portugal. The next holding is planned in Czech Republic on 11th and 12th November 2017.

  • 2010 Anavi Jenniver Davies (Canada) sets a world record by whistling 24 hours
  • 2014 Charuhasi Eckhard Schröder (Germany) recited 3.148 poems by heart in a period of 34 hours
  • 2014 Albert Walter tore a Phonebook with 1551 pages in 9.38 seconds
  • 2015 Belachew Girma (Ethiopia) set a world record lauging non-stop for 3 hours, 35 min and 30 seconds
  • 2015 Samalya Arthur Schäfer (Germany) runs the fastest mile in swim fins in 5 minues, 33 seconds
  • 2015 Karteek Clark (Scotland) told the most jokes in an hour: 587
  • 2016 Abhinabha Tangermann (Netherlands) did the most one-hand-claps with one hand in a minute: 427
  • 2016 Radek Rosa (Czech Republik) pulled a tractor with a weight of 10'075.8 tons for 20 metres in 2.025 minutes
