In the 1980s, Illusive Comics began as Brian's Books. In 2016, a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign was set to help fund a move to Franklin Mall. The increased space would allow for more events to be hosted as art classes, writers workshops, and meetups including a role-playing game/knitting mashup called "Hook and Roll."
