Idukki Diocese is a diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The diocese was formed in 1982 with the parishes in Idukki district in Kerala. Prior to the formation of the diocese, these parishes were under the jurisdiction of Kottayam diocese.

Geography

The parishes in the diocese scattered across large geographical area. Located in the hilly forest area, the distance among the parishes are quite far from each other.

Diocesan Metropolitan

The first Metropolitan of Idukki diocese was H.G Mathews Mar Barnabas. After Mar Barnabas transferred to American Diocese, there was no permanent metropolitan for the diocese for long time. Current metropolitan of the diocese is Mathews Mar Theodosius. He was born on 15 September 1955 in Pandankary, Alapuzha and ordained as a bishop on 19 February 2009.
