Ice Music Festival (initiated 2006 in Geilo, Norway) is a glacial instrument festival founded by Terje Isungset together with Pål Knutsson Medhus. Isungset had the idea of the festival and is the creative director. Medhus made it all happen by being the organizer. Today it is run by a board of volunteers in cooperation with Visit Geilo. Everything id made out of ice and snow at this festival. the venue, the instruments, the art. It is a tribute to nature taking place every first full moon of the year at Geilo - Norway. Around 30 volunteers and students are working hard for 10 days for preparations, as well as ice carvers, designers, ice cutters, architects and artists.

Background
The Ice Music Festival is an annual festival since 2006, exclusively presenting music performed on instruments made from ice. Terje Isungset had the idea of making a festival where everyone participating has to deal with ice and snow. This is not only the musicians, but also the venue, the instruments, the dancers, the visual artists etc. It is ment to be a pool for creativity. The most recent years several students from the University of Bergen have been participating in the actual program. The festival cooperates with the record label All Ice Records in producing ice music. AIR distribute their own music on all digital platforms, and are aiming to release at leased one album per year, with one release at the first full moon of each year.

The festival has been annual since 2006, and there have been several artists. ( 10 till 20 every year). Every year there is an new instrument to be invented.
