Captain Ibrahim Adeboyega Olugbade (born 2 June 1962) is a Master Mariner who currently occupies the position of the Alternate Permanent Representative to the ""International Maritime Organisation"" (IMO). He worked in the Nigerian-based ""Nigerian Ports Authority"". (NPA) in his Early life before he was transferred to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), where he worked for several years. Until his employment at Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Ibrahim was an Assistant General Manager, Marine, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), a position in which he was in charge of all marine-related issues in the PA Eastern Pilotage District. He qualified as a master mariner in Australia in 1992. He holds various professional and academic qualifications from Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport in Egypt; the Australian Maritime College, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia; Rivers State University of Science and Technology; and Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Akwa-Ibom State. Olugbade belongs to several professional bodies. He is a member of the International Federation of Shipmasters' Associations (IFSMA), London, England, and a fellow of both the Nautical Institute of Technology and Institute of Shipping Technology Nigeria. He is currently based in London, United Kingdom.

Early life
Ibrahim was born in a neighborhood in Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria, third of nine children. He is of Yoruba ancestry. Ibrahim had a Muslim upbringing and was introduced to Education at Apapa Baptist School where he stayed for two years. He later moved to Township Primary School, Port Harcourt where he acquired his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1974. He graduated on to Ahoada County High School in Port Harcourt where he later moved to after his father had a business transfer. He earned his WAEC/GCE Certificate in 1980. Ibrahim moved on to the Maritime Academy of Nigeria where he earned National Diploma of Nautical Science in 1983. Already in position to work, Ibrahim captained his first ship, River Andoni which was named after local government Andoni. Ibrahim then furthered his Education to the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria, Egypt. There he acquired his First and Second Mate Certificate Of Competency and graduated in 1988. He later enrolled to Australian Maritime College in Launceston, Australia where he earned his Diploma of Applied Science Master Class I (FG) in 1993.
His first job was with the Nigerian Ports Authority. In 1984, He is a registered member of Institute of Transport Administration, United Kingdom and also Royal Institute of Navigation UK.
Nigerian National Shipping Lines
Olugbade joined the Nigerian National Shipping Line in August, 1983 and worked as a Deck Cadet Officer until 1985. He was promoted to Third Mate (Officer) on December 1985. He worked in that position for two years. He then became Second Officer (nautical). He worked in that position for a year and resigned on April 1989.
Pacific International Lines
On June 1989, Ibrahim Olugbade transferred to Pacific International Lines as the Second Officer (nautical). He was promoted to Chief Officer 4 months after. He worked as the Chief Officer for two years. He later became Master (naval). He left the establishment for a job at Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Nigerian Ports Authority
Presently the Assistant General Manager Marine of the Nigerian Ports Authority, in charge of all marine related issues in the ""Nigerian Pilotage District"". Served as Harbour Master of various Pilotage Districts for 18 years in the Nigerian Ports Authority. Responsible for provision of efficient marine services and ensuring safe navigable channel for vessels. Served onboard sea-going vessels (General Cargo and Container Vessels) from Cadet Officer to Master (naval).
