Ibrahim Garba is a Nigerian Professor of Geology and incumbent Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He succeeded Professor Abdullahi Mustapha, a Professor of Medicinal chemistry.

Garba was born on February 25, 1957 in Riruwai, Doguwa, a local government area of the Kano state.

Professor Garba got his first and second degrees at Abhmadu Bello University between 1980 and 1985. He earned his Ph.D at the University of London in 1993.

Aside the various positions he had held at federal and states ministries, Professor Garba has served as the Vice Chancellor of the Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil. He has also served as Head of Department of the ABU’s Department of Geology, among many other positions.

He has to his credit numerous papers in local and international journals, apart from other publications

Career

Prof. Garba worked on secondment at the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Abuja as Director-General, Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office. He spear-headed the development and implementation of the Mining Cadastre System in Nigeria.
