Ian Habgood (born 12 April 1974) is a British television and film score composer, music producer and filmmaker.

Early work

After graduating from Newcastle College in 1996, he moved to London and began composing music for Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Madame Tussauds. He produced music for many themed attractions in Europe including Air the world's first Bolliger & Mabillard flying roller coaster, Pirates 4D cinema attraction starring Leslie Nielsen, Colossus the world's first roller-coaster with 10 inversions and Colossos.

Music for film and television

In 2000, he began producing music for Television, composing music for the comedy television shows Fat Friends and Star Street. Habgood also provided music for the BBC One drama shows Green Eyed Monster, Life for Daniel and his music.

Habgood is also known for his music in Films. In 2004 he composed music for the films 9 Dead Gay Guys starring Steven Berkoff, Conspiracy of Silence Charlie starring Luke Goss, and The Piano Player starring Dennis Hopper. In 2007 he composed music for the Malaysian movie "Pua" which won the award for "Best Short Film Documentary" at the 50th Asia Pacific Film Festival.

Advertising agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett Worldwide, McCann Erickson and BBDO have commissioned Habgood to write music for television commercials. He has composed music for famous brands including Pepsi, Cadburys, KFC, Nokia, Toyota and McDonald's, and his music is regularly synced to international TV shows and documentaries.

Music for themed attractions

Habgood is known for composing a mixture of orchestral and contemporary music for international amusement parks and attractions. His works are performed in European parks including Alton Towers, Heide Park, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures. In 2012 he composed instrumental music and the dance song "Hollywood Dreams" for the Hollywood Dreams Parade at Universal Studios Singapore.

Filmmaking

Following a stint working as a videographer, director and producer for various production houses throughout 2011, in 2012 Habgood won a scholarship to complete a master's degree in documentary making at Sussex University. He went on to direct and self-produce his first documentary Planet Gong which, explores the fascinating world of Gong Baths and Gong Masters in the UK. The documentary features BBC broadcaster David Hendy and won best film at the Shorts on Tap - Measure of The Senses film festival in London.

Voice work and TV presenting

Habgood also works as a voice presenter under the name "Ian Brit". He is the presenter for FCCE's weekly movie entertainment show "Films and Stars Asia" and has voiced a variety of television commercials and CNN spots. In January 2012 he narrated the National Geographic 3D documentary "Fight Club Asia".

  • He composed a New Year song for the Kids band Bzots whose music videos were acquired for broadcast by Nicktoons Network.
  • He is one of the key collaborators at Studio Bizzaro whose business is shared with creator Brad Bowyer, Voice Actor Brian Zimmerman and owner Joe Murray. He composed music for Planet Bizzaro (52 episodes) and The Bubbletown Club (52 episodes).
