The iShares FTSE A50 China Index ETF (SEHK: 2823) (X iShares A50), a sub-fund of the iShares Asia Trust, is the fund (synthetic Exchange-traded fund) to track the performance of the FTSE China A50 Index quoted in RMB. The fund did not hold shares as their the component, due to restriction on purchasing A shares. However, it later obtained Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor status.

It holds Chinese A-share (mainland China) Access Products ("CAAPs") issued by a connected person of a Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor ("QFII") as underlying investments. The trading board lot is 100 units per board lot based on Hong Kong dollar.

Up to 11 November 2011, the top 10 holdings in the fund are as follows in descending order.

  2. China Merchants Bank: 6.59%
  3. Shanghai Pudong Development Bank: 5.26%
  4. Bank of Communications: 4.85%
  5. Industrial Bank: 4.36%
  6. China Minsheng Bank: 4.27%
  7. CITIC Securities: 3.70%
  8. Kweichow Moutai: 3.53%
  9. China Vanke: 3.05%
  10. Wuliangye Yibin: 2.90%
