Early life and career

IMAKEMADBEATS has personal roots in Memphis, Tennessee and Orlando, Florida. His early influences include Jay Dee, DJ Scratch, DJ Premier, Nottz, Pete Rock, Madlib, and TzarizM (who is his brother).

In 2004, IMAKEMADBEATS moved from Orlando to New York to further his career in the music industry, and began working as an engineer at Quad Studios. His stint at Quad led to collaborations with Rah Digga, Steele (of Smif-n-Wessun), Mic Geronimo, and others.

Later work

In 2009, IMAKEMADBEATS teamed with Stones Throw recording artist Roc C to release the album The Transcontinental. The album also featured Rakka, Dilated Peoples, Wildchild, rapper Big Pooh, Oh No, and Chino XL. This album was one of the first releases on the E1 label, which had formerly been known as Koch.

The Transcontinental garnered positive reviews from HipHopDX, URB, Remix Magazine, and others.

Roc C and IMAKEMADBEATS supported The Transcontinental with the Smash Mouf Tour on the east coast of the United States. The tour also featured Oh No, Chino XL, Butta Verses, MidaZ the Beast, Hezekiah, and AmIAm.

IMAKEMADBEATS released his long-awaited self-titled debut album on January 18, 2011.

Shortly after releasing his debut, IMAKEMADBEATS relocated to his hometown of Memphis, TN. Since moving, he has become a figure in its burgeoning hip hop scene, working with local talent out of his Dirty Sock Studios and collaborating with artists such as Preauxx, Alexander O'Dell, and other members of the TRDON collective.
