Males measure 18–23 mm (0.71–0.91 in) and females 25–28 mm (0.98–1.10 in) in snout–vent length.

Habitat and conservation

Natural habitats of Hyloxalus toachi are humid tropical and very humid premontane forests as well as lowland grasslands. It is a locally common species that can be threatened by habitat loss.
