The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet or HPS, Begumpet is a privately funded public school in Hyderabad in the state of Telangana.The School is managed by the The Hyderabad Public School Society and the Board of Governors.The HPS Society has currently 4 branches at Begumpet, Ramanthapur (The Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur), Kadapa and Warangal.

Contents

Earlier known as Jagirdar College, it was established in 1923 by the Seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, as a school exclusively for the sons of jagirdars and other aristrocats. It was renamed as Hyderbad Public School in 1951 after Zamindari system was abolished in 1950. It is on a152-acre (0.62 km2) campus with buildings ranging from the the Deccani Osmanian architecture to the contemporary style of architecture.

Children are schooled from the pre-primary stage to the 12th standard (age 3 to age 17). The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certification Examinations (ICSE, ISC). Its administrative body is the Hyderabad Public School Society.

    Sports Day 2016

    The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, held its Annual Sports Day on the 18th November, 2016 at the Basalath Jah Stadium from 2 pm onwards. The evening began with the March Past led by the Head Boy Master Mohammed Kamil Khan and the Head Girl Miss Aakriti Krishnan. The March Past by all the Houses exhibited high level discipline and dedication.

    The Chief Guest, Mr. Ajay Misra, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana Revenue (CT & Exercise) Department lit the Meet Flame and handed it over to the school Games Captains. The oath taking ceremony was followed by the hoisting of the flags and declaring the Sports Meet open. Balloons in the vibrant colours of the four houses and doves were released into the blue skies to commemorate the most important event of the school.
