Career

Block's first big break was selling Buick Centuries at the Chicago Auto show. He went on to make numerous tv commercials. Block also made a number of short films and experimental theater pieces. Subsequently, he appeared steadily in lead roles in several dramatic serials - Peter Hollister (Knots Landing) (1985–1987), Ben Warren on Guiding Light (1997–1999), Guy Donahue on All My Children (2000), Craig Montgomery on As the World Turns (2000–2005), and Lee Ramsey on One Life to Live 2007-2008. Block also portrayed U.S. Olympian]], Robert Garrett in the 1984 NBC miniseries, The First Olympics: Athens 1896, as well as starring roles in several other TV movies and pilots. Block has appeared on stages from Off-Off to Broadway (for Arthur Laurents, Edward Albee, Robert Smith, Doric Wilson...) in As You Like It, Forever After, A Loss Of Memory, Provicante di Saliva, Bald Soprano, Make Mine Kafka!, among many others. Amongst his films, he has played U.S. President "How" Lewis in the 2010 film Salt, Sebastian Weinberg in My Best Day, Walter Hill in Only I..., Father in Young(ish), and more. He has voiced several national (and international) commercial and digital campaigns, performed with the Indonesian poetry forum Yang Mengatakan, the Balinese Shadow Theatre, and the Norwegian Arctic Rights Group Vakne Opp's aerial production of Ballong, and is a regular contributor to Sweet Dreams, an audio series of bedtime stories.
