History and Development

Originally Started as the Hume Co-operative Building & Investment Society Ltd. in 1955, Hume employed 3 staff and had 50 customers. In 1968 Hume’s name was shortened to Hume Permanent Building Society in 1969 and in 1988 became Hume Building Society. Hume officially changed its name to Hume Bank on 1 July 2014 after seeking approval from its customers and the governing body APRA in 2013.
