Hugam is a village situated 12 km from district Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, which is both district & sub-district headquarter of Hugam village. The village now is in a new Tehsilship of Srigufwara area. It is beautiful village located on the bank of a tributary of river Lidder locally called as "Aedwin". The village is known for its highly educative culture and environment of co-existence and harmony. Surrounded by neighboring villages like Khairbug, Poshkreedi, Darigund and Adlash, the village is well connected with the rest of sub-urban and urban areas with sufficient local transport services.

Demographics

Kashmiri is the local Language here. Also, people speak Urdu, Hindi and English as well.. According to Census 2011 information, The total geographical area of village is 246.5 hectares. Hugam has a total population of 2,337 peoples. There are about 321 houses in Hugam village. Anantnag is nearest town to Hugam which is approximately 13km away.

The inhabitants of this village are both Muslims as well as Hindus. There are currently 2 middle schools and a high school as well. people besides being highly educated are engaged with varied professions majorly dealing with agriculture and horticulture business. The village has produced several influential and dignified personalities into several fields of life.

The Village is also famous for being blessed with the Dargah of Syed Ahmed Kirmani (RA). Apart from Three Mosques for Muslims to pray there is one Famous Temple for Hindus as well.
