Personal life
Huang Jingyu started his career as a model after being recommended by a friend. He currently holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and has participated in many open tournaments by the BJJ Shanghai Institute.Because he has passion for it, he squeezed out two to three hours per day to practice before he became famous. Due to his determined heart for Jiu Jitsu, he quit smoking. In August, 2016,Huang Jingyu, as an ambassador of "Protection Pangolin" organized by the China Environmental Protection Foundation, decided to donate all his individual income of "Ocean Whale" for supporting the protection of wildlife animals, 50 percent to Bazzar Charity and 50% percent to the "Protection Pangolin" project. In January 2017 , Huang Jingyu donate another portion of his income from his "Ocean Whale" photobook to the (Sunshine Classroom Project) charity event, allowing the kids in the 66 elementary schools within Guoluo state to exercise freely, and grow up happily.

In June 2016, he was invited to the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2017 fashion show during Milan Fashion Week as one of the millennials VIP guests.
