A feature film adaptation of How to Talk to Girls at Parties was scheduled to begin shooting by See-Saw Films in the UK in fall 2015, produced by Howard Gertler alongside Iain Canning and Emile Sherman. John Cameron Mitchell has been chosen as director, from a script he cowrote with Philippa Goslett. Elle Fanning and Alex Sharp are set to have lead roles; Ruth Wilson and Matt Lucas are also expected to play.

Principal photography on the film began on November 9, 2015 in Sheffield, which would be standing in for London.

In September 2015, A24 acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film.
