History

Hot Numbers is the title of a Skatalites' song, but it is at the same time, the name that this band chose to run through the world and fill the emptiness of the groups of their city.

The idea to form this band came from a group of friends, who loved music and especially the hot and Caribbean rhythms such as ska, reggae, calypso... so they decided to start composing and writing music which they would like to listen to, first as a hobby and later in a more professional way.

The group plays a ska-rock music style and started in the world of entertainment in 1996, when there were some of the current members.

From then on began the first concerts: "Rosaleda", "Dr. Martens First International Ska Festival" in Balaguer (their hometown), where they played with groups as well known as The Malarians or Skatalites.

The group underwent a second period when in 2000 the singer decided to temporarily leave the band, but months later, he returned and allowed the group to grow musically, which implied the re-entry of the group in the musical world with new strengths, songs and ideas, participating in initiatives and concerts as "Festimal" or "Fino's Reggae".

Soon after, the same singer finally left the band. They were back during 2002 with some of the current musicians. For the third time, they returned to the music market, did concerts and participated in festivals such as "Arritmia".

In 2008, they did the tour: Girats '08, a show that has taken them through many different Spanish city stages: Barcelona, Terrassa, Madrid, Gelida, Lleida, Solsona... and more.

In 2009 they continued on the stages: Tàrrega, Balaguer, Miralcamp, Malgrat de Mar, Rasquera, Gelida...

And this 2010, as an appetizer of the album "No ha costat tant...!", they visited: Linyola, Lleida, Sant Martí de Maldà, Balaguer, Santa Coloma de Queralt,...

Hot Numbers has shared the stage with a lot of bands such as Discípulos de Otilia, Color Humano, La Thorpe Brass, Potato, Komando Moriles, Bad Manners, Skaparàpid, Dr. Calypso, The Kluba, Kayo Malayo ... and other groups of different genres such as: La Pegatina, Melendi, Els Pets or El Gitano de Balaguer.

The group is influenced by ska and modern Californian bands like Reel Big Fish and Save Ferris, of whom they do some covers.

Hot Numbers currently consists of: Anna Roset (main vocal), Orix Morelló (bass & vocals), Skaro Clotet (guitar & vocals), Rays Llavall (trumpet), Sisco Casals (trombone & vocals), Oriolet Puig (alto & baritone saxophone), Xesco Sauret (drums), Dani Paniagua (keys).

In 2009, after long meetings, beers and some coffees, they decided it was time to record something serious. They could not spend more time without doing this big step and 2010 had to be the year...

They collected enough money and time. After being enclosed in the rehearsal room for a log time to round off their songs and with the help of a new producer, they got in the studio El Tostadero to record "No ha costat tant...!" their first CD, released under the label Shimauma Records, in Barcelona.

"No ha costat tant...!" is a summary of the recent years and it has both of metaphorical and ironic meanings that anyone could imagine.

The album contains 11 multilingual tracks, where they have put a part of themselves, many hours, experience and miles. With many influences from rock, punk, pop and especially ska music, danceable, fast, meaningful and, above all, with a lot of hope.
