History
In 2013, Joanna McFarland and Janelle McGlothlin met a children's party where the idea about "hiring moms and babysitters to drive kids around" originated. Later, they teamed up with Carolyn Yashari Becher, a former real estate lawyer, to start HopSkipDrive.
Technology
HopSkipDrive is aimed at users between the ages of 7 and 17 years. Parents wanting to hail a cab for their children can activate the HopSkipDrive app through their Android- or iOS-run phones and schedule a ride 24 hours in advance. A "CareDriver" is set up for the commute along with a deck of information about her. The company only employs female drivers who have at least five years of experience in childcare.
