History
Hoorsenbuhs was founded in 2005 by then-fashion photographer Robert Keith, who sold the first ring he created, the day he made it as a personal project, for $3000. The company is named for a 16th-century Dutch trading ship that was sailed by Keith's ancestors. Keith took on Kether Parker as a partner, and turned Keith's newfound hobby into a business. Parker was the recipient of the second ring created by Keith. Parker officially joined the company in 2007, as the company's brand ambassador. Later that year the line was picked up by Barneys New York. The original California sales room for the company was located in a 1941 Quonset hut in Santa Monica. The company changed location following the demolition of the original building.
Partnerships
The company has partnered with Newbark, a leather goods retailer, to create a collection of shoes. They have partnered with Forevermark to create a line of diamond jewelry, including bridal rings. The line has a guarantee that the diamonds were procured responsibly. In 2014 the company collaborated with Damien Hirst to produce the Cathedral Collection.
