Hondros College of Nursing educates nurses at five Ohio campuses in Cincinnati (West Chester), Cleveland (Independence), Columbus (Westerville), Dayton (Fairborn) and Toledo (Maumee), where students can earn a Practical Nursing Diploma and an Associate Degree in Nursing. Additionally, registered nurses in Ohio and other states can earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through the online RN-BSN completion program.

History
Hondros College of Nursing (HCON) began in 1981 as a real estate preparatory school. In 2006, the College received approval from the Ohio Board of Nursing to offer Practical Nursing diploma and associate degree in Nursing programs, which were launched at the West Chester campus, near Cincinnati, in January 2007. In 2008, 2009, and 2011 the College expanded the Practical Nursing diploma and associate degree in Nursing programs to the Westerville, Fairborn, and Independence campuses, respectively. The main campus of record at the Ohio Board of Nursing is the suburban Columbus (Westerville) campus.
In 2011, Hondros College of Nursing proudly received authority from the Ohio Board of Regents to confer bachelor's degrees. The online RN-BSN completion program welcomed its first inaugural class in October 2011. In May 2013, the baccalaureate of science in nursing (BSN) degree at Hondros College of Nursing became accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
On November 1, 2013, Hondros College of Nursing was acquired by American Public Education, Inc. (APEI) providing additional resources to advance the mission of the College. The real estate and other business programs remain through Hondros College of Business, which is a separate, unrelated organization.
Hondros College of Nursing has responded to the needs of motivated, dedicated nursing students by introducing more flexible schedules, such as evening/weekend scheduling options. The College has taken additional steps to offer nursing education that is timely, relevant, and directly tied to the expectations of healthcare employers in the communities which we serve. In 2016, Hondros College introduced a concept-based curriculum and realistic, innovative lab simulation experiences to enhance the education and preparedness of nursing students at all campuses.

Accreditation and Approvals
Hondros College of Nursing is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award diplomas, academic associate degrees, and bachelor's degrees. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the United States Department of Education. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Hondros College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
State approvals for the college include the Ohio Board of Nursing for the Practical Nursing and associate degree in Nursing programs and the Ohio Department of Higher Education for the institution's RN-BSN program. Practical Nursing Diploma (PN)
Hondros College of Nursing's Practical Nursing Diploma, approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing, offers day, night and weekend classes at all four campus locations for students who are trying to earn their Licensed Practical Nurse license.
