History
Holy Infant Montessori Center was founded in the summer of 1977 by Carmencita Hernandez - Reyes in a residence at the West Triangle, Quezon City. By 1983, the grade school department was founded. The year 1986 was a milestone for HIMC when the Department of Education (formerly known as DECS) gave the institution a Recognition Status for its Pre-School Department. This was followed by Complete Elementary Courses recognized in 1988.
Carmencita H. Reyes died in 1992 and that is when Gerard H. Reyes, Reyes' son, started heading the HIMC Administration as Director with his father Mr. Domingo Reyes as president. In 1996, HIMC opened the high school department, integrating Computer Literacy in its curriculum. The first set of High School graduates were presented on the year 2000.
Pre-School Building
The PreSchool Building houses the HIMC Covered Court, the whole PreSchool Department, and two faculty rooms. It also has one canteen. It has two storeys. Rooms inside the building are called by the theme color of the classroom. This is the largest building of the HIMC so far, although has the least number of classrooms. The covered court is the venue for almost all programs and events of the school such as the Quarterly Parents-Teachers Conference, Living Rosary, High School Year Level Days, Miting de Avances, PE Classes, Teachers' Day, Christmas Gift-giving Project (in cooperation with Mary Chiles Hospital and Carmencita Hernandez - Reyes Foundation), Commencement Exercises, CAT Battalion Formation, Sportsfest (Holympics), Baccalaureate Mass* and ISBVL Tournaments.
High School Building
The High School Building houses the main canteen, the High School Faculty Room, the SSG Headquarters, and 12 classrooms for the whole high school department.
Main Building
The Main Building houses the Middle School Department, a canteen, two faculty rooms, the Computer and Internet Laboratory, the Administrative Offices, the Finance Office, the Registrar's Office, the Awards Hall, the Clinic, the Science Laboratory, the HELE Room, the Music Room, the AVR, the Library, a mini-shrine for the Holy Infant, the School Supplies and Uniform store and the classrooms for the whole middle school department. Before it became an institutional facility, the Main Building used to be the house of the founder, Carmencita Hernandez Reyes. Until now, some parts of the house are visible inside the Clinic and the Administrative Offices.
(*) - The Baccalaureate Mass is held in the HIMC Court but the First Friday Masses are always held in the nearby church of Christ the King Parish in Ninang Lydia St., BF Homes, Caloocan.
The School Paper
The Oracle was established in July 2006, under the tutelage of Christopher G. Mata, then Communications and Social Science professor for junior and senior high school students. The campus paper is called The Oracle meaning "shrine or deities of knowledge". Its Latin motto is Veritas Par Exigo. meaning "Truth equals exact". The Oracle has published three annual journals, to date, since it was founded in 2006. Unfortunately, the Oracle was not able to produce a school paper for the academic year 2009-2010.
