Holly brockwell s fight to be sterilised this morning

Holly Brockwell is a technology journalist from London mainly known for her battle with the NHS England to allow her to be sterilised. She fought with the NHS, who refused to allow her to go through the procedure, since she was 26. At the end of March 2016, at the age of 30, she was finally granted permission to allow the procedure. The sterilisation is scheduled for May 2016.

Work

In 2012 Brockwell blogged about an advertising campaign about benefit schemes for their staff which sparked controversy and brought the campaign a lot of negative light. The agency accused Brockwell of libel but later apologised.

The next year Brockwell sparked controversy again after writing about a 2013 Hyundai advert that was later withdrawn.

In 2015 Brockwell started a women’s tech site called Gadgette in order to tackle the apparent condescending and discriminating attitudes towards women in the technology industry. Although the launch of the website faced backlash at first it has since been growing and recruiting more and more writers and attracting more readers.

Awards

In 2015 she won the SheSays Award for The Drum Woman of the Year
