It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Päijänne Tavastia region. The municipality has a population of 23,913 (31 March 2016) and covers an area of 650.97 square kilometres (251.34 sq mi) of which 68.66 km2 (26.51 sq mi) is water. The population density is 51.63 inhabitants per square kilometre (133.7/sq mi).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
Hollola has the tallest structure in Finland, the Tiirismaa TV-Tower.
A popular resort in Hollola is Messilä. There you can do cross-country-skiing, downhill skiing, tramping and play golf. There is a hotel and a camping site in Messilä. Messilä is located by Vesijärvi.
