History

The club was established in 1879, and claims to be the third oldest club in Hertfordshire. They were the inaugural winners of the FA Vase in 1975. They joined the expanded Spartan South Midlands League in 1997. Hoddesdon initially competed in the Premier Division North, and subsequently the Premier Division, but have since been relegated to Division One. Joel Sutton plays up front, becoming the clubs all-time top goalscorer, with 157 goals.

Stadium

Hoddesdon Town have played at Lowfield since October 1882 and share the ground with the local cricket club that was established at Lowfield in April 1883. The ground was originally part of the High Leigh Estate, but was purchased for the town in 1924. The current clubhouse was erected in the 1950s, it has undergone three extensive extensions and was completely refurbished in 2002. The main stand built in 1996 originally incorporated 100 seats from Burnden Park, the former home of Bolton Wanderers, but in 2013 100 tip-up seats purchased from the sale of Kettering Town's old ground were installed. In 2016 a new 50-seater stand was erected on the Park View side to supplement the 100 person standing stand erected on that same side in 2014.
