Hiranmay Sen Gupta (born 1 August 1934) is a Bangladeshi physicist specialised in nuclear physics. He has published around 200 research journal papers. He is a fellow of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences since 1977.

Early life and education

In 1963, Gupta obtained his Ph.D. in nuclear physics from University of London under the supervision of Joseph Rotblat.

Career

Gupta served as the professor of physics at the University of Dhaka during 1955-2000. He conducted postdoctoral research at the Nuclear Physics Laboratory, University of Oxford during 1973 - 1976 and at the Department of Physics, University of Birmingham during 1981-1982. He was a senior associate at Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste during 1982-1992.
