Hinduism in the Republic of Ireland

The spread of Hinduism in the Republic of Ireland is increasing. The 2011 Irish Census reported 10,688 Hindu residents in Ireland, making up 0.23% of the population. This is more than triple the number of Hindus in Ireland in 2002(when 3,099 Hindus were recorded) and more than 11 times the number of Hindus in 1991. In the 2011 Census, it showed that the number of Hindus surpassed those who professed to be Methodist (6842, down 5318). Hinduism also surpassed Buddhism (8703, up 2187), which made it the 8th largest religion in Ireland (excluding no religion/not stated).
