General

The Highlander was a monthly print publication serving the Highlands and surrounding neighborhoods in Louisville, Ky. It featured stories of local interest, business profiles, a community calendar, neighborhood news, columns and other information. All content was provided by local writers, photographers, associations, businesses and readers.

Circulation

The Highlander was available free at over 200 Louisville locations each month. Distribution included groceries, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops, bars and a variety of other local businesses.

The Highlander's coverage area included the Highlands, Germantown, Schnitzelburg, Old Louisville, Iroquois, Beechmont, Phoenix Hill, Downtown, Clifton, Crescent Hill, St. Matthews, Buechel, Hikes Point, Audubon, Parkway Village, Westport Road and Holiday Manor.

Published first in December 2006, The Highlander was originally distributed exclusively to the Highlands neighborhoods of Belknap, Bonnycastle, Cherokee Triangle, Clifton, Crescent Hill, Deer Park, German-Paristown, Highlands-Douglass, Irish Hill, Kingsley, NuLu (East Market district), Original Highlands, Phoenix Hill, Seneca Gardens, Strathmoor Village, Strathmoor Manor, Tyler Park, Upper Highlands and Wellington.

After gaining popularity over the first couple of years, The Highlander expanded its coverage and came to be read widely across Louisville. However, The Highlander ceased publication on January 31, 2014.
