Humanities center
The Humanities Center is one of the Specialty Centers of Henrico County, focusing on the connection between literature, history, philosophy, and the arts. Service learning through volunteer work is also a required part of the Humanities curriculum. The program provides students with an opportunity to pursue a rigorous interdisciplinary academic experience in the humanities while fulfilling graduation requirements for an advanced diploma with a Specialty Center seal. Because the center is located at Hermitage High School, Humanities students are allowed to utilize the sports, clubs, and resources of a large high school.
Technical center
Hermitage is also home to a Technical Center, which is one of only two in the county. Students apply to the program at the end of their sophomore or junior year and are selected to take tech courses in the afternoon or morning. The Technical Center enables students to gain hands on experience and education in specific fields, preparing them to join the workforce with career and technical certifications immediately after graduating.
Sports medicine program
Within the Technical Center is the Sports Medicine program. Students receive training in first aid and CPR, and are able to gain hands on experience working closely with school athletic trainers and sports players.
Athletics and music
Hermitage is home to many athletic teams/sports including Football, Baseball, Basketball, Wrestling, Cross country, Indoor and Outdoor Track, Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Golf, Tennis, Softball, Competition Cheerleading Squad, Dance Team, and Step team. It is also home to the music programs such as Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Band, and Orchestra.
