Herman Vedel Herman Vedel

Herman Vedel (born 1 March 1875 in Copenhagen was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1894 to 1897 and at the Zahrtmann Schoolfrom 1896 to 1899. After his debut at Charlottenborg with "Portrait of a young girl" in 1900 (Danish National Gallery), he quickly became a sought after portraitist.

Among his best-known works are Negotiating the 1915 Constitution (da. Forhandlinger om Grundloven 1915), which features prominently in Christiansborg Palace, and his portrait of Georg Brandes from 1922.
