Herbert Vaughn Orvis (born October 17, 1946) is a former American football defensive tackle who played for the Detroit Lions and the Baltimore Colts in a ten-year career that lasted from 1972 to 1981 in the National Football League.

Orvis played college football at the University of Colorado. Orvis was a 1971 All-American and twice earned first-team All-Big Eight honors. He was named to the 1970s All-Big Eight Decade team. In 1971, CU finished ranked #3 in national polls. In 2014, Orvis was named to the University of Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame.

Orvis was drafted in the first round of the 1972 NFL Draft by the Lions.

Orvis was chosen to be inducted into the College Football Hall Of Fame on January 8, 2015. The ceremony was held Dec. 6, 2016 in New York City.
