Henry real bird 2009 montana poet laureate


Henry Real Bird (born July 24, 1948), a member of the Crow Nation, grew up ranching on the battlegrounds of the Little Big Horn on the Crow Reservation in Montana. A former rodeo cowboy, appointed as Montana's Poet Laureate in 2009, Henry still lives in and draws inspiration from the land of the Little and Big Horn Valleys. Horses picture large in Henry’s creative work and are the thread of his Rivers of Horse CD. In the summer of 2010, as Montana’s Poet Laureate, Henry traveled by horseback 415 miles to distribute books of poetry.
