Henry Melvill Gwatkin (30 July 1844 – 14 November 1916) was an English theologian and church historian.

He was born at Barrow-on-Soar, Leicestershire. He was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge. He became Dixie Professor of Ecclesiastical History of the University of Cambridge in 1891, retiring in 1912. He is buried in the Parish of the Ascension Burial Ground in Cambridge., with his wife Lucy De Lisle Gwatkin.
