Henry Clay Sloan (August 12, 1846 – February 15, 1915) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Biography
Henry C. Sloan was born in DeRuyter, New York on August 12, 1846. His father, A. Scott Sloan, and uncle, Ithamar Sloan, both became members of the United States House of Representatives. On November 19, 1879, he married Helen Lois Phinney.
Military career
During the American Civil War, Sloan originally enlisted with the 5th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the Union Army. Conflicts he took part in include the Battle of the Wilderness, the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, the Battle of Cold Harbor and the Siege of Petersburg. In 1864, he became an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Sloan resigned from the Marine Corps the following year and became a first lieutenant with the 48th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the Union Army. In 1866, prior to being mustered out with the 48th, Sloan also became a member of the regular United States Army, and briefly served with both units. He also became a first lieutenant with the regular Army.
Political career
Sloan was a member of the Assembly during the 1881 and 1895 sessions. Other positions he held include City Attorney in Appleton, Wisconsin and District Attorney, City Attorney and President of the Board of Education (school board) of Superior, Wisconsin. Sloan was originally a Democrat, but changed his affiliation to the Republican.
Death
Sloan died in Appleton on February 15, 1915.
