Overview and history

Hendersonville High School is a public school that was chartered in 1901 and then moved into its present facility in 1926. The site of this school was once a plum thicket.

Although the school is one of tradition, it is also a leader in new and innovative approaches to meet the current needs of public education. Twenty percent of the current teaching staff are National Board Certified Teachers or currently pursuing their certification. Many teachers worked in their discipline in industry or management before pursuing their teaching careers.

The students are served by three administrators, all of whom spent time in the classroom before taking on administrative responsibilities.

Grade range

Hendersonville High School serves grades 9 through 12.

Schedule

Students in Hendersonville High School attend seven classes per day, one home room class, and one lunch break. This school's schedule type is inconsistent with other area schools who operate on the "block" system. Some seniors (if a minimum of 24 credits are earned) can excuse the final two periods of the day. Classes that are offered at can be taken in both junior and senior years, but only if a steady 3.0+ GPA or guidance reference is achieved.
