Helmut Meckel (23 August 1917 – 8 May 1943) was a German Luftwaffe ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Helmut Meckel was killed on 8 May 1943 in a flying accident during the evacuation of Tunis. During his career he was credited with 25 aerial victories with 14 over the Eastern Front and 11 over the Western Front.
