Origin

Heimet-los was formed on October 29, 1983. The band was formed through a magazine ad. The name comes from the German word Heimat, meaning 'fatherland', combined with the suffix '-los', meaning 'without'. Their first E.P. was recorded in December 1983, in Massy, France. It featured seven tracks.

After playing a few songs from the E.P. on an independent radio show in 1984, the song "The First Sonic World War" appeared on a compilation album put out by New Wave Records. The label then agreed to produce an E.P. for the band.

A second demo was recorded later, featuring five tracks. It originally contained seven songs, but the studio where the band was recording was destroyed before the vocals could be recorded.
